Saves, Collections, and Workspaces
newsence provides three ways to organize content. Start by asking whether the item is something you want to read later, part of a topic you will collect over time, or material for an active research project.
| Need | Recommended place | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Read later or keep one public article | Personal saves | Fastest; no category decision required |
| Collect material in one field over time | Collection | Reusable and optionally public |
| Prepare sources for research or publishing | Workspace | Resources share context with documents and AI conversations |
Personal saves
Section titled “Personal saves”Articles saved from public feeds enter your personal library and are private by default. You can change the visibility of each saved item. Public saves appear on your profile and in its public saved-content feed.
Adding an article to a Collection does not require making your personal save public. The two visibility settings are independent.
Collection
Section titled “Collection”A Collection is a reusable topic library, such as “AI evaluations,” “Taiwan semiconductors,” or “Design references.”
When you create a Collection, set its name, description, and visibility:
- Public: other people can open it from your profile.
- Private: only you can view it; requires the Pro plan.
Collections are public by default. Deleting a Collection removes the grouping but does not delete its articles from your personal library. The same rule applies when you remove an article from a Collection.
Workspace
Section titled “Workspace”A Workspace is a private research project containing:
- URLs, PDFs, and images needed for the project;
- resources selected directly for the project;
- one or more documents;
- related AI conversations and audio overviews.
Collections and Workspaces remain independent. To use a Collection item in a project, add that resource directly to the Workspace. Removing it from the Workspace does not remove it from the Collection.
A practical organizing system
Section titled “A practical organizing system”A stable workflow is:
- Save everyday reading to your personal library.
- Group subjects you follow over time into Collections.
- Create a Workspace when you begin a report or research project.
- Pin the relevant Collections and add URLs or files specific to this project.
This avoids creating a Workspace for every article or putting every research source into one Collection.
